These gems have been cropping up all over the country in the last couple of years in an attempt to get more people to read. You may have noticed less people are engaging in books these days--I know I've noticed--and it can be a challenging to convince people it's worth their time. Authors are, after all, having to compete with the new media of story-telling, such as television and video games.
The concept is simple: take one, leave one. It's a neat little book exchange brought to you in your own neighborhood; a convenient addition to any place without a local library. What's more, it knits the community together by granting its citizen something to talk about, and allows young children to expend their curiosity and open the doors to Narnia, Pern, and Lyra's Oxford.
What do you think? Wouldn't you like to have one in your community?
